Bodø kommune has invited the leading academic communities from all over Scandinavia to propose the best ideas for a new district in Bodø as the airport is being relocated. Three interdisciplinary teams have been selected to carry out parallel assignments, of which Alliance architecture studio participates in one of the teams, along with Henning Larsen, Kristiania byplankontor, Goudappel and Norsk institutt for kulturminneforskning (NIKU)
Bodø is facing one of the biggest planning tasks of recent times; transformation of an area of about 5500daa. The new district area will be developed in line with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, the Paris Agreement, national as well as municipal goals in climate and energy, and circular business models in all sectors will be used.
The parallel assignment will provide input for the preparation of a municipal subdivision plan for a new district as well as a real estate strategy for the area.
The municipality has set high aspirations for the first neighbourhood in the new district to be planned and developed as a zero-emission area in line with FME ZEN's criteria, and to act as a showcase for the world where it shows how the future of low-emission communities can be built.
We are participating in the startup meeting in Bodø today and look forward to the continuation!
